Rex International Holding Limited, a technology-driven oil exploration and production company, recently shared an update on the progress of its subsidiary, Masirah Oil Limited (MOL), in Oman.
MOL, which is 91.81% owned by Rex, announced that its multi-well programme in the offshore Yumna Field, located in Block 50 Oman, was completed on 8 June 2024—well ahead of the planned 90-day schedule and under budget.
The drilling of the Yumna-5 well, which began on 28 March 2024, is a key highlight of the programme. Positioned at the crest of the structure, Yumna-5 is designed to extract attic oil that previous producers had left un-swept. Production from this well commenced on 26 April 2024, and its performance is currently under evaluation.
In addition to Yumna-5, the multi-well programme also included workovers on Yumna-2, Yumna-3, and Yumna-4, contributing to overall operational improvements.
Looking ahead, MOL is optimising production from the Yumna Field. Plans to enhance and expand the fluid production capacity of the flowline are expected to be implemented after the monsoon season in September 2024.
MOL, as the operator, holds a 100% interest in Block 50 Oman and continues to make significant strides in maximising the field's output.
